THIS IS OUR STORY OF A PANDEMIC
Hey humanity, you are the leading actor of the most realistic science fiction movie in human history, congratulations!
We now have a phenomenon that creates a new line of life in which our inner voice breaks new ground in the world of philosophy with thoughts like “Where were we, where did we come?”: Pandemic. Although the obsessive layout brought on by the New World sometimes turns into boredom and burnout for most of us, it has not forgotten to bring many permanent innovations with it.
The pandemic created time to discover ourselves in many ways. It has created time for everything we postponed for years saying “I don't have enough time”. Some had fun completing a 1500 piece puzzle, some discovered that he/she was a great cook. Those with a love of research were happy to be among thousands of articles. Of course, being at home not always means creativity and exploration. One of our group just chose to be lazy. In time, those who were bored with their hobbies joined this group and we missed being social in the outside world.
So, how was business life affected during this period and how did it affect? While the possible threats were determined in the SWOT analysis organized by the companies on a monthly or annual basis, most sectors taken hit because it was not thought that an extraordinary situation such as a pandemic would be encountered. Businesses had to close, some decided to downsize and displaced workers, while others tried to stay alive. The way most companies operate has also changed. A new working layout has entered our lives: home office. So what is this? In its simplest definition, you take your office. Done! You place it in your house. Now, your living room becomes your office, your kitchen becomes like the common area of the office and suddenly life becomes easier. You don't have to worry about traffic, your time is up to you, you start the day more vigorously, maybe you enjoy being away from your colleagues that you don't like very much, but most importantly, you are in the place where you feel belonging, that is, at your home. When you say "It's good to be home", the issues that you have difficulties arise as time passes. Most of the managers started to employ their employees by giving them more responsibility than necessary because they could not physically take eye control during working from home and had difficulty in making performance evaluations. Basic employee rights have changed suddenly and a despotic order has come, which the job has to be completed in one day, returning to a flexible working model of normal working hours, not having the right to have lunch or a short break, must return to the incoming mail no matter what time of the night, or must be accessible on every call. Well, did not every company manage this process correctly? Of course not. Most global companies have been working in the Home Office layout for years, like Google; It helps its employees maintain their office life at home. Companies that value their employees copied this layout and brought many office supplies such as work desks, office chairs and printers to their homes, creating an office comfort for their employees. In order to keep their motivation high, they enabled them to participate in activities such as virtual concerts, museum tours, art gallery tours. So, what will our post-pandemic layout be like? In this period of over a year, we got used to working in the comfort of home. For this, companies should organize their work plans so that certain periods of the week are at home and certain periods in the office in future arrangements because it will not be so easy to give up habits and will continue to instill office culture in their employees.
The pandemic reminded us of the concept of accessibility the most. In many areas where we could not come together, the virtual world made us accessible to each other or something. The pandemic has forced us to be productive for attainability. New sectors emerged or forced existing sectors to develop. Our understanding of socialization has become digital. While we used to connect to social media to spend time, now we started following e-commerce sites, catching discounts, and following thousands of alternatives to a product that we could not visit or see. Sometimes we ordered from the virtual markets with a click instead of the real market. In this process, not only the marketplaces have developed, but also the logistics companies that enable the products to reach have developed with a noticeable change. Thus, the pandemic sided with change.
